Suite Stay Snapshot: Windsor

Set along the gentle curves of the River Thames, Windsor is one of England’s most distinguished towns, known above all for its deep royal roots and refined atmosphere. Just a short journey from London, it feels worlds apart—offering a slower pace framed by historic architecture, manicured parks, and centuries of tradition.

At its heart lies Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world, lending the town an unmistakable sense of occasion.

Beyond its royal credentials, Windsor reveals a softer charm: boutique-lined lanes, cosy pubs, and a riverside that invites long, unhurried strolls.

A visit to Windsor naturally begins with Windsor Castle, where opulent State Apartments and the gothic beauty of St George's Chapel offer a glimpse into centuries of British monarchy. From there, wander through the cobbled streets of the town centre, where shops and traditional tearooms sit beside historic inns.

For a breath of fresh air, Windsor Great Park stretches out in sweeping landscapes of ancient woodland and open deer-filled meadows, perfect for walking or cycling.

Across the river, the village of Eton adds another layer of charm, home to the prestigious Eton College and a high street lined with antique shops and cafés. For a more leisurely perspective, a boat trip along the Thames offers a peaceful way to take in Windsor’s postcard-perfect scenery.

Windsor enjoys a temperate climate typical of southern England, with mild variations throughout the year. Summer months, from June to August, see average highs between 20–25°C, making it an ideal time for riverside picnics and open-air exploring.

Spring and autumn bring cooler yet pleasant conditions, usually ranging from 10–18°C, with blooming parks or golden foliage enhancing the town’s natural beauty.

Winters are generally cool, with temperatures between 2–8°C, and while frostier days are possible, the festive atmosphere around Windsor Castle adds a distinctly magical seasonal charm.
