Suite Stay Snapshot: Devon

Set in England’s southwest between Bristol and Cornwall, Devon is a county of striking contrasts — from the Atlantic-battered cliffs of the north coast to the sheltered coves and sailing towns of the south. Inland, vast swathes of protected landscape ripple across ancient moorland, giving the region a romantic, untamed beauty.

Known for its seafaring heritage, exceptional local produce, and unhurried rhythm, Devon blends coastal elegance with rural charm. Whether you’re staying in a harbourfront boutique hotel or a refined country manor, time here seems to stretch with the tides.

Devon’s landscapes are made for exploration. Cross the dramatic moorland of Dartmoor National Park or follow clifftop paths in Exmoor National Park, where sweeping views meet the open sea. Along the coast, hidden coves and long sandy beaches invite slow, salt-swept afternoons.

For seaside elegance, Salcombe offers yacht-dotted waters and sandy beaches, while Ilfracombe blends Victorian character with a thriving arts scene.

Families gravitate towards Woolacombe for its award-winning beach, while food lovers explore Totnes’ independent cafés and waterside dining in Dartmouth.

Devon enjoys one of the mildest climates in the UK, thanks to its southwestern location. Summers (June to August) are pleasantly warm, with average highs of 18–22°C, making it ideal for coastal walks, sailing, and beach days.

Spring and early autumn are particularly appealing, offering fewer crowds and mild conditions between 12–18°C. Winters are generally cool, with temperatures typically ranging from 3–10°C. While rain showers are part of the region’s lush charm year-round, Devon’s changing skies only add to its atmospheric beauty.
